Square One Construction is a premier custom home building and renovation company serving Surrey, Vancouver, and surrounding areas, specializing in projects from approximately $300,000 to $5,000,000. We are seeking a top-level Lead Carpenter / Foreman—a highly skilled craftsman, leader, and problem-solver—to lead our carpentry team, drive skill development, and ensure excellence in execution on high-end custom homes and renovations.

About the Role

- Lead and coordinate carpentry operations across multiple projects.
- Execute and oversee framing, forming, finishing, millwork, stairs, and detailing.
- Self-perform work as needed while maintaining high standards.
- Report on progress, performance, scheduling, and resource needs.
- Provide labour estimates and resolve site challenges.
- Interpret plans and identify conflicts early.
- Coordinate trades and maintain project flow.

Leadership & Team Development

- Lead and schedule carpentry crews and labourers.
- Define tasks, expectations, and timelines.
- Mentor and train junior carpenters.
- Identify skill gaps and implement training.
- Support hiring and team growth.
- Promote accountability and continuous improvement.

Quality, Safety & Standards

- Ensure compliance with BC Building Code and company standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe job site.
- Improve processes and recommend upgrades.




- Set high standards for execution and detail.

What You Bring

- Red Seal Carpenter certification or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in residential construction leadership.
- Solid carpentry expertise across multiple scopes.
- Excellent plan reading and problem-solving skills.
- Leadership and mentoring ability.
- Knowledge of construction best practices.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.

Nice-to-Haves

- Experience with high-end custom homes.
- Ability to teach advanced carpentry techniques.
- Experience creating sketches or shop drawings.
- Strong trade coordination experience.
- First Aid Certification
