Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering function and provide technical, project, and product leadership across industrial equipment and engineered systems. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for engineering quality, team leadership, project execution, resource planning, technical compliance, product development, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on industrial engineering experience with the leadership and commercial judgment required to manage engineering projects from concept and specification through design, procurement, implementation, commissioning, and post-project support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration where applicable.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering experience involving industrial equipment, industrial processes, power systems, rotating equipment, or heavy electromechanical systems.
- Minimum 3-5 years of engineering leadership or management experience.
- Demonstrated experience successfully delivering complex industrial engineering projects.
- PMP certification is preferred; equivalent substantial project-management experience will be considered.
- Experience with product ownership, product development, product lifecycle management, or New Product Development (NPD).
- Experience managing engineering priorities, resources, budgets, schedules, risks, and deliverables.
- Strong understanding of engineering documentation, specifications, drawings, technical standards, change control, and quality processes.
- Strong analytical, administrative,
organizational, leadership, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder-management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, develop, and manage the engineering team.
- Establish engineering priorities, resource plans, KPIs, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
- Provide technical leadership for industrial equipment, power systems, rotating equipment, and heavy electromechanical systems.
- Oversee engineering projects from requirements definition and design through procurement, manufacturing/integration, installation, commissioning, and closeout.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, engineering resources, risks, technical issues, and deliverables.
- Act as technical/product owner for assigned product lines and engineering initiatives.
- Lead or support New Product Development, product upgrades, standardization, and product lifecycle management.
- Establish and maintain engineering design-review, approval, documentation, and change-control processes.
- Review technical specifications, customer requirements, quotations, proposals, and tender documentation.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Service, Procurement, Quality, Finance, suppliers/OEMs,
and senior management.
- Support technical evaluation and qualification of suppliers and equipment.
- Lead technical problem-solving, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and lessons-learned activities.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering productivity, product reliability, quality, cost, standardization, and safety.
- Ensure engineering work complies with applicable legislation, codes, standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, project documentation, and departmental records.
- Support commissioning, troubleshooting, warranty analysis, and technical customer issues where required.
- Provide regular engineering and project-performance reporting to senior management.
Recommended First-Year Success Measures
- Establish a clear engineering governance and project stage-gate process.
- Standardize engineering documentation, design reviews, approval workflows, and change-control practices.
- Implement visible engineering KPIs covering schedule, cost, quality, technical risk, and resource utilization.
- Strengthen the New Product Development process and product roadmap for assigned industrial equipment lines.
- Improve engineering lead times, technical quality, and cross-functional coordination with Sales, Operations, Service, Procurement, and Quality.
- Build team capability through coaching, workload planning, role clarity, and succession/development planning.
Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
