JOB SUMMARY

We are hiring for a Production Planner & Scheduler role in Palmerston.

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are looking for an experienced Production Planner & Scheduler to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and scheduling production, forecasting material requirements, monitoring inventory, and working closely with Procurement, Production, Stamping, and Head Office to ensure the correct materials are purchased in the correct quantities and are available when needed. This is an important role within the operation and requires someone who is highly organized, analytical, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Plan production based on customer orders, forecasts, inventory levels, production capacity, and material availability.
- Work closely with the production and stamping departments to ensure production schedules are achievable.
- Review upcoming production requirements and identify material needs in advance.
- Work with Procurement to ensure the correct materials and quantities are purchased.
- Coordinate with Head Office Procurement regarding purchasing requirements, supplier lead times, and material availability.
- Monitor inventory levels and identify potential shortages, excess inventory, or purchasing requirements.
- Forecast material requirements based on customer demand and production schedules.




- Follow up on purchase orders and supplier delivery dates.
- Identify potential material shortages or production delays before they affect operations.
- Adjust production schedules when customer requirements, material availability, equipment, or production priorities change.
- Coordinate production priorities with Operations and Production Management.
- Maintain accurate production planning and scheduling information within the ERP/MRP system.
- Prepare reports related to production, inventory, purchasing, and material requirements.
- Analyze production and inventory data to improve planning accuracy and efficiency.
- Communicate production priorities and schedule changes to the appropriate departments.
- Participate in production and operations meetings.
- Help maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete materials.
- Work with Procurement to ensure purchasing decisions align with current and forecasted production requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production planning, inventory control, and scheduling.
- Work closely with the stamping department to understand production capacity and requirements.
- Ensure steel, raw materials, components, and other required materials are available for scheduled production.
- Coordinate material requirements with production schedules.
- Monitor machine and production capacity when developing schedules.
- Identify capacity constraints and communicate potential issues to management.
- Adjust schedules when equipment downtime or other production issues occur.
- Help ensure customer delivery requirements are met through effective production planning.

REQUIREMENTS / CERTIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of experience in production planning, production scheduling, material planning, or a similar manufacturing role.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required.




- Experience working with Procurement or Purchasing teams.
- Experience in metal stamping or automotive manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of production processes, inventory management, and material requirements.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is a proactive planner who thinks ahead and can identify potential material shortages, purchasing issues, or production delays before they impact the operation.

You will be working closely with Production, Stamping, Procurement, Purchasing, Inventory, Operations, and Head Office, so strong communication and the ability to build effective working relationships are essential. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the right materials are purchased in the right quantities, production stays on schedule, inventory is controlled, and customer requirements are met.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

- $70,000–$80,000 annual salary, based on experience and qualifications
