About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Burner Service Mechanic / Oil Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide professional service, troubleshooting, maintenance, and installation of residential and commercial oil heating systems.

The successful candidate will have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. Previous experience as an Oil Technician or Burner Service Mechanic is preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold a Nova Scotia-recognized Burner Service Mechanic’s License may be considered if they are willing to obtain one.

Key Responsibilities

- Service, troubleshoot, repair, test, and calibrate oil-fired heating equipment.
- Diagnose and repair oil system leaks, malfunctions, and equipment failures.
- Install, inspect, and maintain oil systems, piping, appliances, and related equipment in accordance with applicable CSA standards and local regulations.
- Perform safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Respond to residential and commercial service calls in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in a rotational after-hours emergency service schedule.
- Explain completed work to customers and provide recommendations for system improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance, and service work.
- Complete required reports and documentation.
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and report vehicle deficiencies.
- Maintain a clean, organized,



and properly equipped service vehicle.
- Carry required regulatory documentation and maintain an oil-spill response kit in the vehicle.
- Follow all company Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S;) policies and procedures.
- Work cooperatively with Service Coordinators, Service Managers, apprentices, helpers, and other team members.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Burner Service Helpers and Apprentices.
- Assist with heating equipment sales and installation processes when required.
- Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly while minimizing unnecessary repair and maintenance costs.

Qualifications

- Valid Nova Scotia-recognized Burner Service Mechanic’s License, or willingness to obtain one.
- Previous experience as an Oil Technician, Burner Service Technician, or in a similar mechanical/service role.
- Solid knowledge of oil heating systems, appliances, equipment, and applicable safety requirements.
- Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and specialized service equipment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to various job sites.
- Ability and willingness to complete company-required and legislated training.
- Ability to follow established policies, procedures, codes, legislation, and safety regulations.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
