TELEHANDLER OPERATOR2-Week Industrial Project | Live BC Hydro Substation

West Coast Gates (WCG) is looking for an experienced Telehandler Operator to join our crew for a two-week industrial fencing project at a live BC Hydro substation.

This is a safety-critical environment where experience, professionalism, and strict adherence to site procedures are essential. Extensive telehandler operating experience is required.

Position Details

- Position: Telehandler Operator
- Project Duration: Approximately 2 weeks
- Location: BC Hydro Substation – British Columbia
- Schedule: Full-time, extended shifts as required
- Start: Immediate / project-dependent
- Pay: Competitive hourly rate + bonus pay
- Overtime: OT available and paid in accordance with applicable requirements
- Travel: Travel allowance provided
- Staff Activities: Crew activities and team events included during the project

Responsibilities

- Safely operate a telehandler in an active BC Hydro substation setting
- Move, position and distribute fencing materials, equipment and other site supplies
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report deficiencies immediately
- Work closely with the site supervisor and fencing crew to maintain production
- Follow all BC Hydro, project, WCG and site-specific safety requirements
- Maintain safe clearances around electrical infrastructure and other site hazards
- Assist the crew with general site duties when the telehandler is not required
- Maintain a clean, organized and professional work area

Requirements

- Extensive, proven telehandler operating experience
- Experience operating around industrial or construction sites
- Strong understanding of equipment safety and load handling




- Ability to work safely and independently in a high-security, high-risk environment
- Valid driver's licence
- Strong communication and reliability
- Ability to pass required site orientations, drug/alcohol testing and security requirements where applicable
- PSSP experience is an asset
- PSSP Category 2 and Category 3 clearance is a significant asset
- Previous BC Hydro, utility, industrial or critical-infrastructure experience is an asset
