BMG Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support the design and analysis of structural systems for underground and surface mining and industrial applications. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professional Engineers and gain hands-on experience with real-world engineering projects while progressing toward P.Eng. licensure.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the design and analysis of structural systems, including:
- Structural steel and concrete structures
- Equipment supports, platforms, and access structures
- Foundations and anchor systems
- Industrial buildings and structural modifications
- Prepare structural calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
- Develop structural layouts, framing plans, and connection details
- Support fabrication and construction packages
- Participate in site visits to underground and surface operations (as required)
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, civil, and fabrication teams
- Assist with QA/QC reviews and compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Support preparation of technical reports, scopes of work, and cost estimates
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (Structural focus)
· Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
· Strong structural engineering fundamentals and analytical skills
· Proficiency with CAD software (Bentley MicroStation and/or AutoCAD considered an asset)
· Strong communication and organizational skills
· Valid driver’s license (site travel may be required)
Assets:
· Exposure to structural steel design, concrete design, and connection detailing
· Familiarity with CSA S16, CSA A23.3, Ontario Building Code, and OHSA requirements
· Experience supporting fabrication, erection, or construction activities

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
