Daycare Supervisor / Manager — Christian Childcare CentrePosition Summary

The Daycare Supervisor / Manager is responsible for the overall daily operation, leadership, supervision, and administration of the Christian daycare centre. The Supervisor/Manager ensures a safe, nurturing, welcoming, and Christ-centred environment where children are cared for and encouraged to grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.

The successful candidate will support and uphold the Christian values and mission of the daycare and ensure that the Christian curriculum is incorporated into the children's daily learning experiences in an age-appropriate and meaningful manner.

Key ResponsibilitiesChristian Leadership & Ministry

- Uphold and promote the Christian mission, values, beliefs, and vision of the daycare centre.
- Model Christian character, integrity, compassion, patience, kindness, and respect in interactions with children, families, and staff.
- Ensure that Christian teachings and values are appropriately incorporated into the daily program and learning environment.
- Support staff in creating an atmosphere where children experience God's love, acceptance, compassion, and respect.
- Encourage age-appropriate prayer, Bible stories, worship, songs, scripture, and Christian values as part of the daily curriculum.
- Support the observance and celebration of Christian holidays and special events, such as Christmas and Easter, in an age-appropriate manner.
- Encourage children to develop qualities such as kindness, forgiveness, honesty, gratitude, compassion, sharing, responsibility, and respect for others.
- Work collaboratively with the church, ministry leadership, or Christian organization associated with the daycare, where applicable.

Christian Curriculum & Programming

- Oversee the implementation of the centre's Christian curriculum.
- Ensure classroom programming incorporates Christian principles alongside age-appropriate early childhood learning and development.
- Support educators in planning activities that integrate faith, Bible stories, prayer, music, arts, science, literacy, mathematics, physical activity, and social-emotional development.
- Ensure Christian learning experiences are developmentally appropriate for the children's age and abilities.
- Encourage educators to use everyday opportunities to teach Christian character and values.
- Review lesson plans and classroom activities to ensure they reflect the centre's Christian philosophy and curriculum.
- Encourage a warm, inclusive, and loving environment where children can learn about Christian faith in a positive and age-appropriate way.

Centre Operations

- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the daycare centre.
- Ensure the centre operates in accordance with applicable childcare legislation, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.
- Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and ensure proper supervision of children at all times.
- Coordinate daily schedules, classroom activities, staff coverage, opening and closing procedures, and centre routines.
- Ensure classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas are clean, safe, organized, and properly maintained.
- Monitor supplies, equipment, educational materials, curriculum resources, and other centre needs.

Staff Leadership & Supervision

- Supervise, support, mentor, and provide guidance to educators and daycare staff.
- Promote a Christ-centred workplace culture based on teamwork, respect, integrity, compassion, and professionalism.




- Ensure staff understand and support the Christian mission and philosophy of the daycare.
- Assist with staff recruitment, interviews, orientation, onboarding, and training.
- Prepare staff schedules and arrange appropriate coverage for absences, breaks, vacations, and emergencies.
- Conduct staff meetings and performance evaluations as required.
- Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Address staff concerns, conflicts, and performance issues professionally and fairly.
- Encourage staff to demonstrate Christian values through their interactions with children, families, and colleagues.

Child Care & Development

- Ensure children receive high-quality, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care.
- Promote the physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual development of each child.
- Ensure children are treated with dignity, kindness, patience, and respect.
- Monitor children's individual needs, development, behaviour, and well-being.
- Support educators in developing age-appropriate learning experiences.
- Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for attendance, medication, allergies, incidents, accidents, and emergencies.
- Work with educators and families to support children who require additional accommodations or individualized support.

Parent & Family Relationships

- Develop positive, respectful, and trusting relationships with parents and guardians.
- Communicate the daycare's Christian philosophy, curriculum, policies, and expectations clearly to families.
- Respond to parent questions, concerns, and feedback in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding children's experiences, development, activities, and special events.
- Encourage families to participate in appropriate centre activities, celebrations, and community events.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of children and families.

Health, Safety & Compliance

- Ensure all health, safety, sanitation, emergency, and child-protection procedures are followed.
- Maintain appropriate records and documentation.
- Ensure licensing requirements and applicable childcare regulations are consistently followed.
- Monitor classroom and playground safety.
- Ensure staff are aware of emergency procedures and are appropriately trained.
- Ensure incidents, accidents, illnesses, and other concerns are documented and communicated according to centre policy and licensing requirements.
- Prepare for and participate in licensing inspections and implement any required corrective actions.

Administration

- Maintain accurate enrolment, attendance, staffing, children's records, and operational documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, purchasing, inventory, and financial administration as required.
- Assist with enrolment and orientation of new families.
- Maintain appropriate staff files and required certifications.
- Prepare reports and documentation for the daycare owner, board, church/ministry leadership, or licensing authorities as required.
- Assist with planning special events, family activities, celebrations, and Christian programs.

Qualifications & Requirements





- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
- RECE designation may be required depending on provincial regulations and the position.
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a licensed childcare setting.
- Experience working in a Christian childcare, preschool, school, church, or ministry environment is an asset.
- Robust knowledge of child development and early learning practices.
- Knowledge of applicable childcare licensing regulations and health and safety requirements.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Vulnerable Sector Check and other required screening/documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, families, church/ministry leadership, and the broader community.

Working Conditions

- Full-time position based on the operating hours of the daycare.
- May require flexibility for early mornings, evenings, staff meetings, special events, professional development, and emergency situations.
- Regular interaction with children, families, educators, ministry/church leadership, visitors, and licensing representatives.
- Requires the ability to actively participate in classroom activities and engage with children as needed.

Overall Expectations

The Daycare Supervisor / Manager is expected to provide strong Christian leadership while maintaining high standards of childcare, early learning, safety, professionalism, and regulatory compliance.

The Supervisor/Manager will help create an environment where children feel protected, loved, valued, and respected while being given opportunities to learn about Christian faith and develop positive character traits rooted in Christian values.

The successful candidate will be a positive role model who demonstrates a genuine love for children and a commitment to serving children and families through high-quality Christian childcare.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
