**Job Title: Forklift Operator (Afternoon)** **Job Description**
This role involves the off-loading and on-loading of goods from containers using a propane Sit Down Counterbalance forklift.

You will be operating the forklift approximately 80% of your shift, requiring quick yet safe maneuvering around tight quarters.

The freight varies with each trailer and can be heavy and differently shaped, so experience with freight is necessary.

You will use paper shipping documents to ensure proper loading and unloading of products, transitioning to a complex digital shipping software in the near future.

The facility is open but requires navigating tight corners, and the ability to handle both small and large shipments is essential.

**Responsibilities**

+ Operate a propane Sit Down Counterbalance forklift for loading and unloading goods.
+ Ensure safe and efficient operation within tight spaces.
+ Handle various freight types and shapes, some of which are heavy.
+ Utilize paper and digital shipping documents for accurate processing.
+ Navigate an open facility requiring sharp maneuvering.
+ Adapt to extended contract periods based on internal hiring processes.

**Essential Skills**

+ Minimum of 1 year experience operating a SDCB Forklift in a loading/unloading environment.
+ Valid forklift certification.
+ Proficiency with computers.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
+ Valid work permit for 12 months (if applicable).
+ Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ 2-5 years of experience in a Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) environment.
+ Experience with leadership roles.
+ Familiarity with TruckMate software.
+ Ability to work independently and take initiative.
+ Good English communication skills.
+ Comfortable with shop talk.

**Work Environment**
The position operates in a fast-paced, 24-hour environment with constant truck arrivals and departures.





You will work amongst a team of approximately 50 operators per shift in a multicultural and independent setting.

The dock is cold, so layering is advised.

Steel-toed boots are mandatory, and you may either bring your own or use ones available on-site.

Shifts run from Sunday to Thursday, with specific hours detailed in the schedule.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Surrey, BC.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $24.75 - $25.75/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
