Reports to: Field Archaeologist, Operations Manager, Business Manager and Partners

Job summary

Assist in the completion of stage 1-4 archaeological assessments through the following methods: walking ploughed fields; conducting shovel test pit surveys; digging squares; screening soil; collecting, bagging and tagging artifacts; feature excavation; shovel shinning; and drawing plan views and profiles.

Summary of essential job functions

- Able to walk minimum of 8 ha per day for the purpose of completing pedestrian

assessments

- Able to complete a test pit survey of one hectare per day minimum
- Able to dig a minimum of 3 one metre by one metre squares per day
- Failure to complete the above tasks can result in termination.
- Able to draw plan views of test squares and features to scale
- Able to draw profiles with complex stratigraphy to scale
- Identify and document artifacts found during assessments
- Legible hand-writing
- Able to draw Sketch maps of work completed

Minimum requirements

- Completion of high school or working on completing high school
- Candidate must be self-sufficient and have valuable English oral and written

communications skills





- Must be available to work the odd weekend or extended days and to work away from

home for extended periods

- WHMIS required

Skills and Abilities required

- Ability to travel away from home some times for extended periods of time
- Ability to work efficiently
- Can work in various weather conditions and environments
- Record all appropriate field data necessary for report preparation and submit field notes on a daily basis to superiors and otherwise whenever requested by superiors
- Performance consistent with AMICK Consultants Limited Field Manual

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
