Job Title: Industrial Painter (Nights)

Job Description

The industrial painter role focuses on high-quality blasting and painting of vessels, spools, tanks, and valves in a busy, well-equipped shop environment. You start each shift with a toolbox meeting, inspect and service your painting and blasting equipment, and then perform industrial coating applications using epoxy and urethane paints and garnet abrasive media. The position offers the opportunity to grow into foreman or quality control roles over time within a collaborative and safety-focused team.

Responsibilities

- Attend toolbox meetings at the start of each shift and receive work assignments from the shop foreman.
- Perform industrial blasting using garnet abrasive media on vessels, spools, tanks, valves, and related components.
- Carry out industrial painting using spray guns, including epoxy and urethane coatings, in accordance with job specifications and quality standards.
- Work safely with blasting systems operating at or above 100 psi, following all relevant procedures and safety guidelines.
- Operate a manlift or forklift when certified, ensuring safe handling of materials and access to work areas.
- Complete accurate blast and paint reports and submit them to the foreman for documentation and quality tracking.
- Follow confined space entry procedures when working inside tanks, vessels, or other restricted areas.
- Support quality control processes, including inspections and documentation, to maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Participate in and contribute to a collaborative team workplace where experienced staff mentor and support newer employees.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are stored and handled safely.
- Adhere strictly to all safety policies, including use of personal protective equipment, respirator fit requirements, and blast hood usage.

Essential Skills

- Minimum 5+ years of experience in industrial blasting.
- Strong industrial painting experience using spray guns.
- Hands-on experience applying epoxy and urethane paints with sprayers.
- Ability to work safely with blasting equipment operating at or above 100 psi.
- Experience performing work in confined spaces following proper safety procedures.
- Quality control inspection experience in an industrial painting and blasting environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Capability to complete blast and paint reports clearly and accurately.
- Comfort working night shifts with consistent attendance and reliability.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and use of appropriate PPE.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- CSTS certification.
- Confined space certification.
- Leadership in Safety Excellence (LSE) Training Certification.
- NACE Level 3 or equivalent AMP quality control certification.
- Previous quality control (QC) experience in industrial coatings.
- Experience using plural component sprayers.
- Ownership of a blast hood suitable for industrial blasting work.
- Current respirator fit test and familiarity with respirator use and care.
- Experience in large industrial coating shops or similar environments.




- Interest in long-term employment with potential to move into foreman or QC roles.
- Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a team-focused culture.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large industrial shop that is known for its high-quality standards and certified processes, including ISO 9001 and COR. The facility features in-floor heating, providing a warm and comfortable workspace during winter months. You work on night shifts, including evenings such as Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., with consistent hours and substantial work volume. The environment is equipment-intensive, using blasting systems with garnet abrasive media, spray guns for epoxy and urethane coatings, and plural component sprayers, along with manlifts and forklifts for material handling and access. Safety is a core focus, with confined space procedures, respirator fit requirements, and the use of blast hoods forming part of daily operations. The dress code is typical of industrial settings, requiring appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment suitable for blasting, painting, and confined space activities. The team culture is supportive and collaborative, with foremen and experienced tradespeople actively mentoring colleagues and fostering a positive, learning-oriented atmosphere.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nisku, AB.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
