About The Role

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer II to join our Partner Merchant Interfaces – Integration team within Decisions Foundations. In this role, you will play a critical part in developing and maintaining the APIs that our partners and merchants utilize to integrate with Affirm’s platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and analytics, to deliver scalable, reliable, and productive backend systems.

Your expertise will support some of our top partners such as Amazon and Stripe, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading projects, breaking down complex tasks, and delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for supporting both current feature development and operational stability, contributing to the overall growth and success of our partner integrations.



This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the infrastructure that powers our partner ecosystem and directly impact our company's growth trajectory.

Qualifications

- 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Proficiency in designing, developing, and launching backend systems using Python or Kotlin
- Experience with building and scaling APIs at enterprise level
- Familiarity with distributed system components and cloud technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes
- Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Experience navigating large codebases, debugging, and conducting code reviews
- Proactive ownership and continuous growth mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration
- Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Responsibilities

- Break down large projects into manageable tasks, deliver in multiple phases, and collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion
- Support the entire product development lifecycle by working closely with product management, design, and analytics teams
- Participate in ideation sessions, articulate technical constraints,



and contribute to decision-making processes considering risks and trade-offs
- Create, monitor, and maintain metrics to ensure the operational stability and availability of partner APIs and artifacts
- Support “keep the lights on” activities, including on-call duties and incident response
- Engage in team growth and development activities, including participating in interviews and code reviews to foster a collaborative community environment
- Contribute to continuous improvements in system design, performance, and scalability
