QUALIFICATIONS

As a 2D Concept Artist, you will contribute to defining and developing the visual identity of our games by creating concepts and illustrations that will guide our art teams throughout production.
Working closely with the Lead Artist as well as the Art, Design, and Production teams, you will contribute to visual research and the design of characters, environments, props, architectural elements, and gameplay moments. You will explore different artistic directions, clearly communicate your visual intentions, and translate project needs into cohesive, inspiring, and production-ready concepts.
- Create high-quality 2D concepts and illustrations, including characters, environments, props, architecture, interactive elements, and gameplay scenes.
- Contribute to visual research and exploration to help define and evolve the project’s artistic direction.
- Quickly produce sketches, explorations, variations, and concepts that clearly communicate visual intentions to different production teams.
- Develop concepts that are clear and detailed enough to effectively guide artists and other team members in their work.
- Adapt your approach to a variety of artistic styles based on the needs of the project, intellectual property, and franchise.
- Collaborate closely with the Lead Artist to ensure consistency and quality across the visual direction.
- Incorporate technical and production constraints from the concept stage to propose visual solutions that are feasible and appropriate for the project.
- Actively participate in brainstorming sessions, art reviews, critiques, and production meetings.
- Effectively present and communicate ideas, references, and visual intentions to the Art, Design, and Production teams.
- Identify potential artistic or production challenges and propose appropriate solutions independently or in collaboration with relevant team members.
- Manage priorities and meet production deadlines.
- Demonstrate flexibility in responding to evolving project needs and production priorities.
- When needed, contribute to storyboards or other visual materials used to communicate a sequence, experience, or gameplay intention.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of skilled experience in concept art, illustration, or a similar artistic role within the video game, entertainment, or related industries.
- Ability to develop characters, environments, props, and/or architectural elements.
- Excellent command of artistic fundamentals, including composition, perspective, shape, value, color, lighting, and anatomy.
- Ability to rapidly explore multiple ideas and translate a direction or brief into clear and effective concepts.
- Ability to work across different artistic styles and adapt your approach to an established visual direction surrounding a franchise.
- Proficiency with relevant 2D tools used for concept art and digital illustration.
- Good understanding of the technical constraints and production realities of video game development.
- Ability to present your work, explain artistic decisions, and effectively incorporate feedback.
- Autonomy, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment and with production management or version control tools is an asset.
- Experience developing mobile, PC, or console games is an asset.
- Curiosity about new technologies and emerging tools, including artificial intelligence, and an interest in their responsible use within creative workflows.
- Ability to effectively manage priorities and work in a dynamic production environment.
- Openness to feedback and the ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
This hybrid position requires being at the office for key moments.
Eligible applicants must be located in the province of Quebec and have the legal right to work in Canada.
