Your Role
Here’s what you will be doing:
- Help utility customers understand the impacts of distributed energy resources (DERs) on the distribution system and provide solutions for DER management and planning.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects to provide input on solution architecture based on customer needs and solution capabilities; define success criteria and author solution diagrams.
- Deploy Opus One solutions to client environments to support project use cases and DER planning scenarios.
- Outline project goals, objectives, requirements, and technical functionality; design, diagram, and document solutions to meet customer requirements and use cases.
- Facilitate workshops to capture functional and non-functional requirements from clients and communicate them to internal product and development teams.
- Document and design customer-specific solution requirements, including acceptance criteria and necessary features.
- Define user acceptance testing processes and test cases; articulate progress metrics.
- Work with Project Managers to develop, document, and standardize internal and external processes, expectations, and deliverables across projects.
- Create business cases and current product requirements by understanding customer business processes and policies.
- Collaborate with the Solutions team to expand consulting and delivery practices, build standards of excellence, and deliver innovative solutions.
- Develop user acceptance documentation and training materials, including PowerPoint and video modules, using internal software demonstrations.
- Train utility customers and end users on using GridOS to achieve their business objectives.
- Identify project delivery risks and recommend mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Project Management Office.
- Support sales activities occasionally by providing technical demos and identifying potential upsell opportunities during projects.
About You
The company is looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related program, with a focus on power systems or relevant experience.
- Experience automating processes and utilizing or building scripting solutions to support product solutions.
- Strong knowledge of emerging energy industry trends and their implications on utility customers, especially in DER management, distribution planning, IT, SCADA, and asset management.
- Proficiency in Excel analysis, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Ability to meet project deadlines with a strong focus on quality.
- Collaborative mindset with a "we before me" attitude.
- Strong problem-solving skills, able to analyze approaches and configure solutions to customer needs using existing product functionality.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
- Curiosity and a growth mindset with a passion for lifelong learning.
- Customer-focused, attentive to customer needs, and skilled at creating detailed user stories.
- Interest in new tools and technology, with the ability to learn new software quickly without extensive documentation.
Nice to have:
- Experience with scripting in VBA or Python.
- Master’s degree.
- Familiarity with cloud-based solutions and deployment activities.
- Utility integration experience (e.g., SCADA, ADMS, OT, OMS).
- Experience with power system analysis software (e.g., OpenDSS, CYME, Powerfactory, Synergi).
Compensation & Perks
- Salary range for Canadian-based candidates: $66,000 to $99,000 CAD, depending on experience, education, and skills.
- Bonus eligibility: 10% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
