As a Diagnostic Sonographer, you will work in the general ultrasound department and the Maternal Fetal Medicine clinic.

Conduct a range of standardized and complex ultrasound services essential for diagnosing and monitoring diseases and pathologies. Your duties will include preparing patients for examinations, reviewing medical histories, interpreting procedures, capturing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound images, and taking initial steps to address abnormal findings. As a Diagnostic Sonographer, your role will extend to assisting in diagnosis, clinical interventions, and patient management, all while upholding a high standard of patient care and safety.

Description

As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology.

Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists,



Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Required Qualifications

Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare

Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications

Canadian Registered Generalist Sonographer (CRGS). Consideration will be given to candidates who are eligible for CRGS credential. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, push, pull stretchers with patients and equipment, and lift and carry up to 50lbs. Must be able to work all scheduled shifts including on-call.

Preferred Qualifications

Good decision-making skills, capable of showing initiative and maintaining a cooperative and versatile attitude. Displays tact, courtesy and empathy when dealing with patients and families. The ability to work independently as well as effectively with others in a wide variety of clinical and educational situations. Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written skills. Working knowledge of computer applications and familiarity with Connect Care is an asset.
