Role Description The Pharmacy Intern role at Shoppers Drug Mart in St Thomas, ON is a part time, on-site position supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy.

The Pharmacy

Intern will assist with processing prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist, preparing and labeling medications, and supporting pharmacy technicians with routine tasks. The role involves helping with basic compounding activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring regulatory and safety standards are followed.

Intern will also provide courteous customer service at the pharmacy counter, respond to inquiries, and help maintain an organized and clean work environment.

Qualifications

- Foundational knowledge of pharmacy practice, including medications, dosage forms, and pharmacy operations.
- Ability to support accurate prescription processing and documentation under appropriate supervision.
- Experience collaborating with or supporting pharmacy technicians in day-to-day dispensing activities.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and team members.
- Basic compounding skills or willingness to learn compounding procedures in line with safety and quality standards.
- Enrollment in or completion of an accredited pharmacy program, or equivalent educational background as required by provincial regulations.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow professional and regulatory guidelines.
- Ability to work flexible part-time shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
