- 6 Month ContractAgilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Procurement Specialist in the Higher Education / Academic Administration sector in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We are seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support complex purchasing activities within a dynamic research and laboratory setting. This role is ideal for a senior-level procurement professional who thrives on managing high-value sourcing initiatives, negotiating favorable supplier agreements, and advising stakeholders on procurement best practices.

Manage end-to-end procurement activities for laboratory, research, and specialized categories

Lead competitive sourcing initiatives including RFQs, RFPs, and supplier evaluations





Develop procurement strategies that balance value, quality, risk, and operational requirements

Collaborate with technical stakeholders to develop specifications and procurement documentation

Analyze supplier proposals using commercial, technical, and total cost of ownership criteria

Negotiate pricing, service levels, warranties, and contractual terms with suppliers

Ensure compliance with organizational procurement policies and applicable trade agreements

Monitor supplier performance and support ongoing contract administration and vendor management

Successful candidates will have

Minimum 5 years of procurement or senior buyer experience

Experience managing laboratory, scientific, technical, medical equipment, or specialized procurement categories

Strong knowledge of formal sourcing processes including RFQs, RFPs, and tendering activities

Experience negotiating supplier contracts, pricing structures, delivery schedules, and service agreements

Understanding of public-sector procurement principles and compliance requirements

Advanced analytical skills with experience evaluating total cost of ownership and supplier risk

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
