Registered Dietitian/Certified Diabetes Educator

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking 1 FTE Registered Dietitian (RD) or Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) to join our interdisciplinary team in an in-person role at our Thunder Bay site. As a valued member of the Community Health Centre team, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of our Diabetes Program by providing diabetes prevention, clinical care, education, and self-management support to individuals and groups living with diabetes. Working within a collaborative, client-centred model of care, this role places a strong emphasis on disease prevention, health promotion, education, empowerment, and improving health outcomes for the communities we serve.

The position has a competitive salary, the Health Care of Ontario Pension Plan, and an excellent group health benefits package.

The pay range for this position is from $72,039 to $83,187 per year. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Registered Dietitian with current registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario; or
- Regulated Health Professional with Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certification and current registration in positive standing with their respective regulatory college.
- Experience working with adults living with diabetes and/or complex chronic diseases.
- Demonstrated experience supporting self-management and chronic disease prevention.




- Excellent interpersonal, communication, teaching, counselling, and group facilitation skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience developing, delivering, and evaluating health promotion or education programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical records.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations and individuals experiencing barriers to care, including those who are underhoused, experiencing mental health challenges, affected by substance use, newcomers, uninsured individuals, and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

- Experience applying Diabetes Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines.
- Training in Motivational Interviewing.
- Experience using adult learning principles in clinical education.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
