Insight Global is seeking a lead Java developer in Toronto for a Canadian Tier 1 Bank, working on its Rates Derivative Pricing System. You will be the primary point of contact for traders, Quants, and support partners across North America and APAC, and will lead development projects that expand the system's capabilities to support the Capital Markets Macro trading business.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role — you'll be writing production code daily while setting the technical direction for the work. It is not a people-management position ; there are no direct reports.

This is also a front-office-facing role at the intersection of finance and technology — you'll need the technical depth to build low-latency systems and the capital markets fluency to work directly with the trading desk.

Responsibilities

Remain hands-on, contributing production code while leading the technical direction of the work

Partner with stakeholders to gather and define requirements

Design and implement solutions optimised for performance, supportability, reusability, and reliability

Contribute across the full software development lifecycle

Deliver to deadlines within a quick-moving release cycle

Resolve production issues and recommend system improvements

Advise traders, Quants, support partners,



and fellow team members

Must-have

7+ years of hands-on server-side Java development, with strong emphasis on concurrency, messaging, and event processing

1+ years setting technical direction in a lead or senior engineering capacity (hands-on technical leadership, not people management)

Working knowledge of capital markets and the trade lifecycle, sufficient to communicate effectively with traders and Quants

Curve building and interest rate swap pricing knowledge, with hands-on experience in at least one of the following:

Rates curve building and pricing, or Rates eTrading

FX forward curve building and pricing, or FX eTrading

Credit curve building and pricing, or Credit eTrading

Design and implementation of low-latency trading applications using real-time messaging technologies (Solace, TREP)

Strong SQL and command of software design and architecture patterns

Ability to break down complex business-domain requirements into technical solutions

Experience providing L2 production support as part of a team

Excellent verbal and written communication; a detail-oriented team player focused on quality
