Aquatic Resource Specialist
within a growing team, you will be part of Hatch’s Environment, People, and Place practice, providing a combination of technical expertise in your field of experience, key client relationship management, and guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate colleagues.



We collaborate and partner with clients, communities, rightsholders, regulatory agencies, and Hatch’s engineering teams to solve our clients’ most challenging problems. The opportunity is unique: Hatch’s wealth of technical engineering expertise combined with exceptional environmental and consultation expertise allows for creative solutions to the most complex project challenges.Your challenges with us are to:Lead and grow the revenue and profit of our existing environmental consulting practice with a focus on fisheries and aquaticsLead teams to deliver successful projects requiring Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Fisheries Act Authorizations (including offsetting planning, design, and implementation), Canadian Navigable Waters Act applications, Water Act applications, etc. Provincial experience in Saskatchewan and Manitoba is considered a strong asset.Identify and develop environment, people, and place related business opportunities with new and existing clients working in the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectorsProvide leadership, technical direction, peer review, and advice within our existing environmental consulting practice, focusing on fisheries and aquaticsCoordinate key environmental deliverables on behalf of clients and projectsProvide technical and quality review for client deliverablesParticipate in resource planning and mentorship and leadership of project teamsWork collaboratively with integrated, multidisciplinary teams,



liaising with and supporting global peersRecruit and develop Hatch’s next generation of environmental leadersYour profile:Post-secondary education in aquatic environmental sciences, marine or aquatic biology, and/or a related discipline8-12 years of experience in managing and delivering fisheries and aquatics scopes on major mining, energy, and/or infrastructure projectsIn-depth understanding of fisheries and aquatics impact assessment, permitting, and regulatory requirements within Alberta, the prairies, and applicable Federal requirements. As a global firm, experience in other jurisdictions is an asset.Hold or be eligible for Professional Designation under the Alberta Society of Professional BiologistsQAES (qualified aquatic environmental specialist) certification preferredDemonstrated business development and client engagement experienceAbility to lead, mentor, and inspire environmental teams, collaborate with peers and integrate with engineering teamsExperience working on major Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) and/or Major Capital Projects is preferredStrong entrepreneurial spirit with a focus on technical qualitySkilled at managing internal and external stakeholdersClear communication style with the ability to plan, lead, and deliver best in class, high-quality deliverables.Must have a driver's license and ability to freely travel to client sites across central and Western CanadaWith us, you will change the world of tomorrow!Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutionsWe're committed to fostering a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities in which we operate and serve.
