1.0 Temporary Attendance Counsellor

Effective September 2, 2026 to June 30, 2027 or the earlier return of the employee

Reporting to the Mental Health Lead, this position will actively monitor student attendance in North Bay and surrounding area schools.

Location: North Region: North Bay and Surrounding Communities including Sturgeon Falls and Mattawa

Qualifications:

- 3 year Community College Diploma and/or University Degree as a Social Worker and/or Social Service Worker or equivalent

Knowledge/Skills Required :

- Conversant with pertinent acts and regulations which impact on the role of the Attendance Counsellor
- Capable of interpreting laws, policies and procedures as it relates to student attendance
- Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective problem solving and analytical skills with respect to resolving attendance conflicts
- Ability to act as a liaison between community agencies, home, and the school




- Serve as contact and ensure communication with local law enforcement agencies and courts in the area of student truancy
- Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Valid Driver's License and Reliable Vehicle

Rate of Pay : $44.48 per hour
