About the role
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patientsand families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC) is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive toindividual patient/family preferences, needs,

Reporting to the Manager Prevention and Screening ClinicalServices, the Genetic Counsellor is a health professional with specialized education, training and experiencein genetic counseling.
The Genetic Counsellor provides counselling to individuals andfamilies seeking information due to family history, recent diagnosis or suspected diagnosis of a genetic condition. Aspart of a multidisciplinary team, the genetic counsellor will provide expertise in clinical genetics and counseland communicate with patients on matters of clinical genetics.
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Masters of Science Degree in Genetic Counselling, or a regulatedhealth professional with relevant experience and an unrestricted membership with their respective Ontarioregulatory college
- Recent work experience in genetic counselling (minimum of 2years), however new graduates encouraged to apply
- Canadian Board of Genetic Counselling (CBGC) is an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of clinical genetics as it applies togenetic counselling
- Strong interpersonal and administrative skills, including theability to set priorities, establish timeframes and organize resources
- Strong strategic, analytical and problem solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, oneon one, and in writing
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member ofan interdisciplinary team, including community partners
- Current knowledge of research processes and methodologies
- Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of computer applications(Meditech, Microsoft Office, SHIRE)
Salary Range: $44.670 to 57.900
