Trick & Fly – Acro & Aerial Art School is looking for an enthusiastic Acrobatics / Tumbling Coach to join our team at our new training facility in Stittsville, Ottawa.
We specialize in acrobatics and tumbling training for children and teens, including dancers, cheerleaders, gymnasts, and athletes who want to develop their acrobatic skills.
We are looking for someone with a background in gymnastics, acrobatics, tumbling, cheerleading, dance, or circus arts who enjoys working with young athletes and is interested in growing as a coach.
Previous coaching experience is an asset, but we are also open to candidates with a strong athletic background who are motivated to learn. Training and guidance can be provided.
Responsibilities
- Coach or assist with recreational and competitive-level acrobatics and tumbling classes
- Teach skills using safe and appropriate progressions based on each athlete's level
- Demonstrate and help develop skills such as handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, aerials, handsprings, and other tumbling elements according to the coach's experience
- Provide safe and appropriate spotting
- Help athletes develop strength, flexibility, coordination, body control, and confidence
- Monitor athlete progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Maintain a positive, organized, and safe training environment
- Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, and other coaches
- Assist with equipment setup and general class organization when needed
Qualifications We would like to hear from you if you have a background in one or more of the following:
- Gymnastics
- Acrobatics or tumbling
- Cheerleading
- Dance / Acro Dance
- Circus arts
- Other closely related disciplines
Ideal candidates are:
- Comfortable working with children and teens
- Responsible, reliable, and punctual
- Positive, patient, and encouraging
- Able to communicate and demonstrate skills clearly
- Safety-conscious and willing to follow established coaching progressions
- Interested in developing their coaching knowledge and skills
Previous coaching experience is preferred for candidates interested in independently leading classes, but is not required for assistant-level candidates. First Aid/CPR certification is an asset. Successful candidates must be willing to complete any required screening or certifications applicable to the position.
Schedule
- Part-time
- Primarily weekday evenings and weekends
- Approximately 6–12 hours per week to start, depending on experience, availability, and program needs
- Opportunity for additional hours as our programs grow
Compensation $20–$35 per hour, depending on coaching experience, qualifications, and ability to lead classes independently.
Growth Chance
We are building our coaching team as Trick & Fly expands into our new Stittsville facility.
For the right candidate, there will be opportunities to take on additional classes, private lessons, workshops, and greater coaching responsibilities as our programs grow.
Candidates with less coaching experience may begin in an assistant role and progress toward independently leading classes.
