Client: Government of Alberta – Technology and Innovation Position: Senior Digital Architect Positions: 3 Location: Edmonton, Alberta / Primarily Remote within Canada Work Location: 7000 – 113 ST, Edmonton, AB T6H 5T6 Max Rate: $100–$110 CAD/hour (based on Experience) Hours: 7.25 hours/day Initial Contract: 3 months Potential Extension: Up to 24 months Interview: Expected to start prior to September 2026 Travel: May be required within Alberta Positions Requested: 3 Project Overview The Government of Alberta requires up to three Digital Architects to support service innovation, program review, and digital transformation initiatives across the Government of Alberta.

The Digital

Architect will work with cross-functional product teams led by GoA Product Owners, supporting activities such as: Solution and software architecture Technical discovery and feasibility System modernization and integration Backlog refinement and sprint planning Architecture standards and governance Technical leadership and developer mentorship Key Responsibilities Lead solution architecture for digital services. Develop architectural plans aligned with citizen-centered design and Agile delivery. Analyze existing systems and define future-state architecture.

Provide technical discovery, prototypes, and feasibility recommendations. Design scalable, iterative, cloud-native solutions. Identify integration strategies, system boundaries, and reusable components.

Review code changes and contribute to development when required. Guide developers, technical leads, Product Owners, and cross-functional teams. Assess architectural risks, impacts, and exposures. Support modernization of legacy systems into up-to-date digital services.

Develop architecture documentation, diagrams, presentations, and technical materials. Establish and improve architecture principles, standards, and service-quality metrics. Collaborate with UX, Service Design, Design Thinking,



and Human-Centered Design teams.

Support continuous improvement of the GoA architecture practice.

Requirements Mandatory Qualifications Requirement Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; equivalencies considered Required Leading cross-functional Agile product teams, providing architectural direction and mentoring developers/technical leads 5+ years Software architecture and enterprise-scale solution delivery 5+ years Working with UX, Service Design, Design Thinking, or Human-Centered Design teams 2+ years Defining and communicating solution architecture for large-scale systems, integrations, modernization, and cloud-native solutions 4+ years Communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influencing decisions 5+ years Nice-to-Have Qualifications Secure development practices, RBAC/ABAC, and Zero Trust Architecture – 4+ years API design and management, including RESTful services and integrations – 4+ years CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, deployment, and observability – 2+ years Legacy system modernization into modern digital services – 5+ years Containerization, orchestration, and Infrastructure-as-Code – 2+ years Relational and non-relational databases, schema design, and performance optimization – 2+ years Public-sector digital service frameworks or enterprise architecture standards – 4+ years Mandatory Project Experience Each project should cover: Project Overview – scope, objectives, and candidate's Digital Architect responsibilities.
