The Architectural Technologist supports the planning, design, development, and execution of retail store projects for Laura and Melanie Lyne. This role is responsible for preparing and coordinating construction drawings, developing technical details, reviewing consultant documentation, and ensuring design intent is accurately translated into buildable solutions. Working collaboratively with the Store Design, Construction, and Visual teams, the Architectural Technologist helps deliver creative, functional, and brand-consistent retail environments while ensuring compliance with building codes, landlord requirements, and industry standards.
How you will support the team:
- Developing and maintains CAD standards, drawing templates, and block libraries for both the Laura and Melanie Lyne brands to ensure consistency and efficiency across all store design projects.
- Preparing and coordinating Design Development (DD) drawing packages, translating approved design concepts into accurate and buildable technical documentation.
- Producing comprehensive construction document packages, including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, details, fixture layouts, millwork drawings, and finish plans.
- Developing technical details and construction solutions that support design intent, brand standards, constructability, and cost-effective execution.
- Coordinating with the Store Design, Construction, Visual, and external consultant teams to ensure drawings are complete, coordinated, and ready for permit and construction.
- Reviewing consultant drawings and construction documentation to ensure alignment with company standards, project requirements, and design intent.
- Ensuring all drawings comply with applicable building codes, accessibility standards, landlord criteria, and industry best practices.
- Provideing technical support throughout the project lifecycle by responding to design coordination requests, reviewing shop drawings, and assisting with construction-related technical issues as required.
The people who thrive with us have:
- A diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in architectural drafting or architectural technology, preferably in retail or commercial projects
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, and building codes
- Experience developing CAD standards, templates, and drawing libraries is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and knowledge of building codes and standards
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
