Position Overview We are looking for an Intermediate level Architectural Technologist / Contract Administrator who has a minimum of 5 years of applicable work experience on mid-scale institutional or multi-unit residential projects, with strong technical expertise, contract administration experience, and site review capabilities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that construction is executed in accordance with contract documents, design intent, and applicable codes and standards.
This position requires a highly organized individual who can effectively communicate with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams while providing technical guidance throughout the technical drawing and construction phases.
This position is available immediately.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Administration
- Administer construction contracts and monitor project progress.
- Review and process shop drawings, product data, and material submissions.
- Prepare and issue supplemental instructions, site instructions, change directives, and change orders.
- Review contractor requests for information (RFIs) and coordinate responses with the project team.
- Evaluate applications for payment and provide recommendations.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and contract records.
Site Review & Construction Observation
- Conduct regular site reviews and document construction progress.
- Prepare detailed site review reports and field observations.
- Identify deficiencies and monitor corrective actions.
- Review work for general conformance with contract documents.
- Participate in construction meetings and coordinate with contractors and consultants.
- Assist in substantial performance, occupancy, and project closeout activities.
Technical Drawings, Specification & Project Support
- Develop and review technical construction details, documentation and specifications.
- Coordinate architectural drawings with consultant disciplines.
- Assist with building code analysis and regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical expertise related to building systems, materials, and construction methods.
- Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives.
- Participate in project planning and problem-solving throughout the construction phase.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in architectural technology, contract administration and construction review.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, contract administration procedures, and project delivery methods.
- Extensive knowledge of building construction, detailing, materials, and building systems.
- Thorough understanding of applicable building codes and regulations.
- Experience developing technical specifications.
- Experience reviewing shop drawings,
RFIs, change orders, and payment applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience communicating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and project management software.
- Must live in Winnipeg, Manitoba with the ability to travel to project sites within and outside of Winnipeg, at times including remote northern communities in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario (travel by vehicle & airplane).
- Valid Driver’s License – use of personal vehicle will not be required.
- Flexible hours required for day site visits, and rare overnight trips.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Technologist, or eligibility for professional registration.
- LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience is considered an asset.

- M-Th: 8:30am – 5:30pm with 1-hour unpaid lunch
