We are seeking a creative, experienced, and enthusiastic Art & Technology Design Teacher to teach high school students in drawing, painting, portfolio development, and technology-based design. The ideal candidate has a strong art/design background, an excellent portfolio, and experience guiding students in developing creative projects and preparing portfolios for post-secondary applications. Experience with technology, digital design, or design-related software is an asset.

This position may begin with a limited number of students, with additional teaching hours available as new classes open and student enrollment increases.

Work Responsibilities:

- Plan, develop, and deliver engaging Art, Drawing, Portfolio Preparation, and Technology Design lessons appropriate for high school students.
- Provide instruction in observational drawing, sketching, composition, colour theory, painting, mixed media, and other traditional art techniques.
- Guide students in developing their art and design portfolios, with a focus on creativity, technical skills, personal expression, and presentation.
- Help students understand portfolio requirements for different post-secondary institutions, programs, and fields of study.
- Provide demonstrations and individual guidance in drawing, painting, design, and creative processes.
- Introduce students to a variety of traditional and digital art and design techniques.
- Teach technology-based design concepts and, where applicable, digital drawing, graphic design, illustration, or other relevant design applications.
- Encourage students to explore different artistic and design approaches and develop their own creative style.




- Assign and evaluate projects, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Support students in selecting, developing, refining, and presenting work for their portfolios.
- Organize student art and design exhibitions or presentations when appropriate.
- Maintain a positive, creative, and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and independent work.

Education and Experience:

- Degree in Fine Arts, Design, Technology Design, or a related field; BFA or MFA is preferred.
- Strong personal art and/or design portfolio.
- Experience teaching drawing, painting, visual arts, design, or related subjects at the high school level.
- Experience with portfolio preparation for university or college applications is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of technology-based design and digital art tools/software is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of traditional drawing and painting techniques.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to provide individualized feedback and support students with different skill levels.
- Teaching certification/licensure appropriate for the grade level and subject area is an asset.

- Mondays & Thursdays 1:00 PM - 3:40 PM. Additional teaching hours may be offered as new classes open and enrollment increases.

Job Types: Part time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 5 months

Pay: $27.84-$33.61 per hour
