Prodomax Automation Ltd. is currently seeking an ASSEMBLER / DEVELOPER to join our team.

Must have a Certificate of Qualification for one of the following trades: General Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, Mould Maker or Millwright or Certificate of Apprenticeship as a General Machinist

Located in Barrie, Ontario, Prodomax is a specialized industrial engineering firm focused on designing complex automation with a blue-chip customer base since 1971. Operating from two facilities totaling 200,000 square feet with 200+ employees; we are ISO 9001:2015 certified.

The Opportunity The Assembler/Developer will assemble equipment and develop the equipment to ensure that it meets all customer requirements (quality, cycle time, maintainability, etc.) You will report directly to the Assemble/Development Supervisor. Your level within the role will be determined by the skills and experience you bring when taking on this exciting career chance. Responsibilities are noted as you progress within the role.

Junior:

Job Responsibilities:

Ensure all work activities are completed according to the procedures or best practice

Build to print activities, including mechanical assembly, plumbing, guarding assembly, etc.

Learn the fundamentals in machine build practices and GD&T; analysis to help engineering design equipment that will be cost effective and meet our customer needs

Travel to customer sites to install or service equipment at their facility.

Some heavy lifting

Job Qualifications:

Must have a Certificate of Qualification for one of the following trades: General Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, Mould Maker or Millwright or Certificate of Apprenticeship as a General Machinist

1-3+ years direct working experience

Experience in building and trouble-shooting automated assembly equipment

Forklift and Overhead Bridge Crane Licenses are preferred

Experience with mills, lathes and other tool room equipment

Experience/general understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics

Experience with interpretation of mechanical and fluid power schematic drawings

Experience working to close tolerances and making equipment adjustments to meet those tolerances

Experience working in a high-pressure environment with dynamic requirements

Positive attitude.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, disciplined approach to work.

Ability to work well as a member of a team.

Ability to work well under pressure in a constantly changing workplace.

Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.

Excellent conflict resolutions skills.

Excellent judgment and strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand the financial impact of relevant options.

High energy and the flexibility to perform under short time constraints to meet deadlines.

Ability to work regular and/or continental shift (when required)

Job Responsibilities:

Interact with shop floor and design personnel for engineering issues/drawing updates to aid in machine build activities

Ensure all work activities are completed according to the procedures or best practice

Maintain quality, generate issues lists related to the equipment, and provide that feedback to the necessary departments

Build to print activities, including mechanical tool assembly, plumbing, guarding assembly, etc.

Develop tools to the point that customer parts are being produced within the required geometric tolerances and within the required cycle time

Work within the project team to provide feedback to engineering to improve machine build efficiency and reduce cost

Utilize fundamentals in machine build practices and GD&T; analysis to help engineering design equipment that will be cost effective and meet our customer needs

Travel to customer sites to install or service equipment at their facility, and be part of the team that starts up the equipment and completes the job onsite

Some heavy lifting

Mentor and lead Apprentices and Junior Machine Assemblers and Developers

Job Qualifications:

Must have a Certificate of Qualification for one of the following trades: General Machinist, Tool & Die Maker, Mould Maker or Millwright.

3 - 5+ years direct working experience

Experience in building and trouble-shooting automated assembly equipment

Forklift and Fall Arrest Licenses are preferred

Experience with mills, lathes and other tool room equipment

Experience/general understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics

Experience with interpretation of mechanical and fluid power schematic drawings

Experience working to close tolerances and making equipment adjustments to meet those tolerances

Experience working in a high-pressure environment with dynamic requirements

Positive attitude.

Maintain quality, generate issues lists related to the equipment, and provide that feedback to the necessary departments

Build to print activities, including mechanical tool assembly, plumbing, guarding assembly, etc.

Develop tools to the point that customer parts are being produced within the required geometric tolerances and within the required cycle time

Work within the project team to provide feedback to engineering to improve machine build efficiency and reduce cost

Proficient in monitoring schedules/budgets and coordinating the workforce needed for effective project execution





Utilize fundamentals in machine build practices and GD&T; analysis to help engineering design equipment that will be cost effective and meet our customer needs

Travel to customer sites to install or service equipment at their facility, and be part of the team that starts up the equipment and completes the job onsite

Some heavy lifting

- The actual compensation a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
