Assembly Technician
Location: Vancouver, BC (On-site) | Type: Full-time, Permanent | Pay: $24–$29/hour
About Kinitics
Kinitics Automation develops advanced Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuator systems for industrial applications. Our valve actuators, linear actuators, and piston pumps are used in demanding sectors including oil & gas, chemicals, aerospace, and process control. We're an engineering-driven company where collaborative teams take on uncommon and meaningful technical challenges… and where the products you build with your hands end up doing real work in the field.
Why this role matters
Every actuator that leaves our shop carries our reputation with it. As an Assembly Technician, you'll be the person who turns designs and components into finished, reliable products. Your role will include building, testing, and quality-checking the equipment our customers depend on in critical, and often harsh, industrial environments.
Your diligence directly influences the quality our customers experience.
What you'll do
- Assemble electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies and integrate them into finished SMA actuator products, including valve actuators, linear actuators, and piston pumps
- Perform functional testing and quality assessments on sub-assemblies and finished products, documenting results and flagging issues
- Work from Bills of Materials, drawings, and assembly documentation to build products accurately and prioritize orders
- Maintain accurate production records in our databases and spreadsheets, and keep your workspace organized and well-stocked
- Collaborate with our engineering team to improve assembly processes, fixtures, and documentation
What we're looking for
- Excellent manual dexterity and strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
- Familiarity with hand tools, torque tools, soldering, or basic electrical testing (multimeters, continuity checks)
- Experience assembling electro-mechanical devices, industrial equipment, or precision instruments
- Experience working in a manufacturing, cleanroom, or quality-controlled environment
- Solid organizational and time-management skills — you can juggle multiple builds and priorities
- Basic computer proficiency, including comfort with databases and spreadsheets
- A reliable, quality-first mindset and willingness to learn new assembly and test procedures
Nice to have
- Experience with electrical wiring harnesses
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Mechatronics technology (or equivalent hands-on experience)
Why Kinitics
- Extended health, dental, vision, and long-term disability coverage
- Employee Stock Option Plan
- Career development support
- Company events and team activities
- A collaborative, engineering-driven team working on uncommon and meaningful technical challenges
