PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director, the Athletic Therapist is responsible to assess and rehabilitate athletic/recreational injuries to safely return athletes to competition. The Athletic Therapist will also jointly oversee the day-to-day operation of the Sports Therapy Clinic.

Some of the key job functions include:

- Assess, treat and rehabilitate athletic and recreational injuries using appropriate assessment techniques, therapeutic modalities, manual therapy, exercise prescription, taping/bracing and other supportive interventions.
- Provide on-site athletic therapy coverage for practices and competitions, including injury assessment, emergency response, return-to-play decisions and coordination of emergency medical care.




- Develop and implement injury prevention and performance preparation strategies, including warm-up, stretching, mobilization, taping, bracing and client education.
- Supervise and train student therapists through hands-on instruction, monitoring and workshops related to athletic therapy techniques and practices.
- Maintain clinical and administrative operations, including client documentation, scheduling, referrals, medical coverage coordination, concussion testing, inventory and equipment management.
- Provide guidance and education to athletes regarding injury prevention, rehabilitation, exercise, referrals, supplements and applicable anti-doping requirements.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have:

- Bachelor’s degree in a program accredited by the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (e.g., Bachelor of Kinesiology – Athletic Therapy)
- Current certification as a Certified Athletic Therapist
- Three (3) years’ experience as an Athletic Therapist
- CPR certification
- Current First Responder Certification
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule
