Auxiliary (Volunteer Positions)
The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) requires an Auxiliary Volunteers. The WRPS delivers exceptional police services to residents. The Waterloo Region is a vital and prosperous community in Southern Ontario that offers the unique combination of a growing urban centre surrounded by four rural communities. You will work in a community proud of its diversity, and within an organization focused on its people.
As an Auxiliary Volunteer …
You Must:
- Be able to commit to at least two (2) years;
- Be able to commit to at least twelve (12) hours of volunteer time per month; and
- Be able to volunteer any time during the day, night, and weekend.
You Will:
- Volunteer in all weather conditions;
- Volunteer under the direction of a police officer; and
- Assist with duties given by the officer, including, but not limited to:
- Traffic direction;
- Assist with RIDE programs;
- Search for missing persons;
- Engage with community groups;
- Deliver crime prevention initiatives;
- Hand out educational material;
- Accompany and assist a police officer during duty shifts; and
- Other duties assigned by the Chief of Police.
You Are:
- At least 18 years of age;
- A Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- Of valuable moral character and habits;
- Able to attend training and pass tests set by the Service;
- Able to be certified by a medical practitioner to be mentally and physically fit for duty; and
- Able to follow all rules of the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
You Have:
- An Ontario High school Diploma or equivalent;
- A valid CPR and first aid level C; and
- A valid Class ‘G’ Ontario driver’s licence with no more than six (6) demerit points.
