Job Summary

MCG Careers, Inc. is seeking a Full-time Baker & Baker/front of house to join a new Bakery/Café in Okotoks. You will prepare a wide variety of artisan breads, pastries, and baked goods from scratch daily. The ideal candidate loves baking, maintains high quality standards, and thrives in a diverse environment.

NOTE: You must be currently unemployed or under employed (less than 20 hours a week) and be willing to work with the ACTION team at MCG Careers prior to placement.

Core Responsibilities

- Prepare doughs: Mix, scale, and shape dough for breads, buns, and pastries.
- Bake products: Operate commercial ovens, proofers, and mixers safely.
- Decorate goods: Ice, glaze, and finish pastries and cakes neatly.
- Maintain cleanliness: Clean workstations, utensils, and equipment according to Alberta health standards.
- Open kitchen: Arrive early to ensure display cases are fully stocked before opening.

Requirements & Qualifications

- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of commercial baking experience preferred.




- Education: Culinary/Baking certificate or diploma is a strong asset.
- Food Safety: Valid Alberta Food Safety Certificate required.
- Physical ability: Capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 20 kg (45 lbs).
- Schedule: Ability to work days, evenings and weekends.
- Skills: Solid time-management, multitasking, and attention to detail.
- Communication Skills: Able to cover front of house and engage with customers.
