As part of Alberta Education's Complexity Funding initiative, Foothills School Division is implementing Junior High/High School Complexity Teams during the 2026-27 school year. The purpose of these multidisciplinary teams is to strengthen our capacity to support students with complex learning, behavioural, social-emotional, and executive functioning needs through a proactive, collaborative, and school-based approach.
We invites applications for a Behavioural Strategist/Consultant to join this innovative initiative. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting schools to develop inclusive learning environments and effective behavioural supports that promote student success and well-being.
Working collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, educational assistants, families, and multidisciplinary team members, the Behavioural Strategist/Consultant will provide expertise in behaviour assessment, intervention planning, staff coaching, and capacity building. The successful candidate will support schools in understanding and responding to complex behavioural needs using evidence-based approaches grounded in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
Key responsibilities include
- Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs) to identify factors contributing to challenging behaviours.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Positive Behaviour Support Plans and behaviour intervention strategies.
- Support school teams in responding to complex behavioural, social-emotional, and executive functioning needs.
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, educational assistants, families, and multidisciplinary team members to promote student success.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional learning opportunities for school staff.
- Support the development of inclusive classroom practices and proactive behavioural supports.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring records, and reporting related to interventions and student outcomes.
- Facilitate family collaboration and engagement in behaviour support planning.
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB) ethical standards and professional best practices.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience supporting children and youth with behavioural and/or complex learning needs.
- Demonstrated experience conducting Functional Behaviour Assessments and developing individualized behaviour intervention plans.
- Solid understanding of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles and evidence-based behavioural interventions.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with educators, therapists, and families.
- Excellent communication, consultation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to analyze data, monitor progress, and adjust interventions based on student response.
- Valid Alberta driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the division.
