Petrospec Engineering is currently seeking a skilled Cable Splicing Technician to join our manufacturing team in Edmonton. This role involves the installation, splicing, termination, testing, and repair of various cable systems, including thermocouple and copper conductor cables used in specialized field applications.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and technically skilled, with a strong focus on producing high-quality workmanship. This position works primarily out of our Edmonton shop under the direction of the Manufacturing Coordinator, with a high degree of independent work.

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

- Assist in the splicing, termination, assembly, and testing of cable systems in the shop environment.
- Splice and terminate thermocouple and copper conductor cables in accordance with internal standards and industry best practices.
- Perform inspection, maintenance, and servicing of tools and equipment used in manufacturing processes.
- Conduct testing and troubleshooting of cable assemblies to ensure functionality and performance standards are met.
- Accurately complete and maintain build reports, production records, and material tracking documentation.
- Follow all job-specific work instructions, procedures, and quality control requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Coordinator or management team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment.
- Collaborate with field teams when required to support installation planning, repairs, or technical clarification.




- Demonstrate a solid and consistent commitment to health, safety, and quality performance in all tasks.
- Participate actively in the company’s Health & Safety Program, including safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Exercise the authority and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions are identified.
- Support the development and improvement of shop procedures, work instructions, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Manufacturing Coordinator to provide constructive feedback and operational input.
- Comply with all applicable health, safety, and quality regulations, as well as internal company policies.

Qualifications

- A Technology or Instrumentation Diploma or some equivalent is an asset.
- Proven experience as a Cable Splicer or in a similar electrical/technical assembly role.
- Solid understanding of cable types, splicing methods, and testing procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent attention to detail and quality control standards.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a shop-based environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Ability to lift 30-50lbs independently.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to safety protocols.

Pay: $52,000.00-$73,000.00 per year
