: Café Server

Location: FortWhyte Alive - 1961 McCreary Road

Reports to: Chef de Cuisine (Events oversight through Catering and Banquet Manager)

Department: Buffalo Stone Café

Position Overview

Creates a welcoming and efficient dining experience for staff, volunteers, and visitors by delivering friendly customer service, handling cash and card payments, serving safe food and drinks, and keeping dining areas clean. The role also supports team prep and handles catering logistics at FortWhyte Alive.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet customers and assist with orders in a friendly and efficient manner
- Operate point-of-sale systems accurately and handle cash, debit, and credit transactions
- Serve food and beverages according to safety and quality standards
- Keep service and dining areas clean, stocked, and organized
- Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation guidelines
- Work cooperatively with kitchen and service teams
- Support catering operations by gathering, delivering, setting up and clearing catering orders in Lakeside Meeting Room and Field Station




- Help with basic prep or other tasks as needed during busy periods
- Other duties as assigned by Chef de Cuisine

Requirements

- Prior customer service or food service experience is an asset (but we’re happy to train the right person)
- Ability to work in a quick-paced environment with a positive and professional attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Punctual, reliable, and able to follow directions
- Able to stand for long periods of time and carry up to 40lbs
- Comfortable using POS systems (training provided)
- Available on weekdays, weekends and holidays with occasional evenings
- Holds a valid Smart Choices Certification and Drivers License
- Access to a reliable vehicle and Food Handlers Certification is an asset

Pay: $16.00-$16.75 per hour
