As an Automotive Service Technician in the Fleet Section, you will provide preventative maintenance, on-demand repairs, safety inspections, mechanical breakdown repairs, and the set up and repair of emergency and specialty equipment for approximately 1,200 police vehicles which are subjected to extreme levels of operation. You will also ensure all fleet vehicles and equipment are operational and safe. Primary duties include:

- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose problems, and perform all types of repairs.
- Install and test emergency equipment such as master communication controllers, emergency lights, sirens, in-car digital video, and prisoner barriers.




- Ensure preventative maintenance and safety inspections are completed.
- Review Vehicle Trouble Reports, diagnose problems, and repair vehicles.
- Utilize diagnostic skills, manufacturers' service sites, on-line operating manuals and a variety of hand and mechanical tools on a wide variety of vehicles, light duty trucks, trailers, and specialty equipment.
- Gather and input data into the computerized management system.

Working Conditions: This position has exposure to noise and fumes and requires heavy lifting. Qualifications

- A High School Diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) and a valid Journeyman Automotive Mechanic certificate or equivalent Interprovincial Red Seal, plus a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
- Current experience diagnosing and repairing North American and/or foreign light duty vehicles, previous experience maintaining an emergency fleet or with the installation of specialty equipment and prior experience repairing Ford and/or GM products.
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle electrical systems including creating complex wiring looms; integration into factory wiring and controllers; and installing accessories is an asset.
- Valid Full Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent)



and a Driving Abstract with no more than 6 demerit points (current within 3 months) and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Journeyperson ticket in Heavy Duty or Motorcycle Mechanics are considered assets.

Pre-employment Requirements

- An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Compensation: $47.44 - 52.54 per hour

Hours of work: Non-Standard 38 hour work week.

Days of work: This position works either Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday (7:00am-4:30pm).
