This position has two distinctive duties
Solomon College is currently looking for a motivated and dynamic person to contribute to the success of our students by providing meaningful work placement opportunities for students enrolled in employment related programs and also partially provide front office support.
The Career and Employment Counsellor/ Administrative Assistant works to promote Solomon College Employment Programs and its students, with potential employer partners. The Career and Employment Counsellor proactively and strategically creates and develops relationships with employer partners to ensure successful long-term work opportunities for students.
Key Responsibilities:
· Research, identify, recruit, and develop relationships with prospective employer partners through cold calls, employer site visits, networking events, and engagement with community stakeholders
Maintain ongoing relationships with employer partners regarding available job postings
· Communicate with employers about positions for which students have applied
· Monitor and track successful hires with employer partners during work placement experience
· Communicate with various program instructors to determine the success of work placements, and support the instructors to address barriers to long-term employment
· Prepare students for the interview process, including editing resumes and cover letters,
assisting students with online skills assessments, and conducting practice interviews
· Refer students to appropriate community services to address potential barriers or issues relating to successful long-term employment
· Keep program instructors informed about employment-focused activities offered in the community to enhance the program (i.e. presenters, workshops, site visits, job fairs)
· Work to evaluate and assess outreach, recruitment, and promotional marketing to ensure employer and student satisfaction.
· Report regularly to the Program manager about issues and provide feedback to enhance positive program outcomes
· Perform other Employment Program-related tasks as required
· Provide administrative support to various departments as needed
· Manage front desk operations, including greeting visitors and answering multi-line phone systems
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
· Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new software quickly
Job Types: Full time, Fixed term contract
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
