We are looking for a fully qualified carpenter.

The Carpenter is responsible for constructing and maintaining buildings, as directed by Building Maintenance Manager.

Knowledge of residential construction and remodeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety. The Carpenter must be proficient at the following tasks: stain-grade trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills, able to read blueprints, and must possess mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material estimates.

Job Duties

- Lay building foundations/mix and pour concrete
- Frame the building including doors and windows
- Put up siding/drywall/flooring
- Build stairs and other items as required
- Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment
- Perform renovations as required
- Build and install cupboards, bookcases, tack boards etc.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on the construction site.
- Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitations
- Understand and comply with all Policies and Procedures

Requirements

- Fully qualified carpenter
- Currently working in the trade
- Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures




- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to read building specifications, blueprints and as-builds
- Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates.
- Must possess a valid Driver's license
- Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision.
- Collaborative in dealing with customers and fellow employees.
- Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances.
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
- Respect diversity - treat others with respect.
- Avoid unnecessary conflict.

Work Conditions

- Job requires ability to perform tasks on all areas and aspects of construction project.
- Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber and materials.
- Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
- Hazards associated with the construction industry.
- Valid BC driving licence
