Our Kerr Street Catering team is looking for a talented chef to join our dynamic culinary team as a Catering Prep Cook, where your enthusiasm for food and dedication to quality will shine! In this vital role, you will be the backbone of our catering operations, preparing delicious and visually appealing dishes that delight our clients. Your energy and attention to detail will ensure every event starts with fresh ingredients and impeccable presentation.

Kerr Street Cafe & Catering has been in business for more than 20 years serving the GTA & Muskoka. We growing and expanding with our new retail space we are looking for someone to come on board.

Duties

- Assist in food preparation by chopping, slicing, marinating, and assembling ingredients according to recipes and standards
- Prepare a variety of catering items such as salads, appetizers, side dishes, and main courses with precision and efficiency
- Follow food safety protocols to ensure all products are handled, stored, and served hygienically
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing work surfaces, and organizing supplies
- Support cooking processes by monitoring oven temperatures,



timing dishes appropriately, and ensuring quality control during meal assembly
- Collaborate with team members to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of food presentation and taste
- Assist in packaging prepared foods for delivery or onsite service, ensuring items are secure and visually appealing

Skills

- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen support within a restaurant or catering environment
- Strong understanding of food handling safety practices and sanitation standards
- Ability to perform meal preparation tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of serving techniques and proper food presentation methods
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills with a positive attitude in a fast-paced setting
- Familiarity with the food industry’s best practices for quality control and hygiene
- Culinary skills complemented by a passion for creating appealing dishes that meet customer expectations
