Join our vibrant team as a Chess Instructor dedicated to inspiring children in elementary grades (K-5) through the timeless game of chess for our After-School program as an Independent-Contractor! In this engaging role, you will introduce young learners to strategic thinking, problem-solving, and sportsmanship while fostering a fun and supportive environment. Your enthusiasm and teaching expertise will help ignite a passion for chess in children, empowering them to develop critical skills that extend beyond the board.

- Main Responsibilities:

· Teach Chess to students in Port Coquitlam · Teach different drills / practices to kids each week

· Friendly and respect school's staff / parents / students

· Strictly follow school's protocols and instructions

· Arrive on time (15 minutes before each session)

· Maintain daily attendance records

Qualifications and Requirements:

· Must be at least 19 years of age

· A proven knowledge of Chess with at least 2 year teaching experience.

· Knowledge of working with children, social and emotional learning, physical literacy, group management,



behavior management, and counseling

· Experience in planning and leading activities for groups of children in a recreational setting

· Current criminal record check (or willing to consent)

- Hours of Work and Payment :

This is a part time contract position working weekday afternoon shifts (must be available between 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm). - The net monthly payment will be based on the number of sessions attended, calculated at a fixed hourly rate per one-hour session as mentioned above that includes 15 min check-in/set-up and 15 min check-out/clean-up time for each session.

This position is only open to those legally entitled to work in Canada.

Pay: $45.00 per hour

- Port Coquitlam, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
