BGC Albion — Children's Site Lead
Department: BGC Albion Club
Position Type: Part-time (17.5 hours/week)
Wage: $22.00/hour + pay equity and 4% vacation pay
Schedule: Monday to Friday: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Work Location: Schools in the Rexdale/Jamestown area
Start Date: September 3, 2026
End Date: June 29, 2027
Position Summary The BGC Albion Afterschool Children's Site Lead coordinates the design, development, and delivery of after-school programs for children aged 4–12 in local schools, in line with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport's Ontario After School Program Initiative.
Accountability
Staff at Albion Neighbourhood Services are expected to be ready, when asked, to explain the reasoning behind a decision or action to other staff or community members — especially when that decision or action affects them.
Supervised By: Children/Youth Program Coordinator; BGC Manager
Supervises: BGC Albion afterschool workers/staff; program participants; post-secondary and co-op students; volunteers
What You'll Do
Program Implementation
- Coordinate and deliver after-school programs for children in the local community and schools, as required by the funding agreement
- Liaise with community partners and local schools on program delivery
- Develop program plans and implement activities
- Assist in evaluating programs and activities
- Oversee day-to-day program preparation, including purchasing supplies and preparing healthy snacks
- Conduct outreach to program participants and assist with registration
- Ensure all participants are registered in the KidTrax system
- Lead communication with parents/guardians, including emails and messages
- Ensure all ANS BGC Albion Club program policies, procedures, and best practices are followed
- Maintain approved standards of practice
- Encourage parent involvement in planning, evaluation, and volunteering
- Manage the approved budget within funding guidelines
Staff & Team Leadership
- Supervise children's program workers, placement students, and volunteers
- Provide leadership and support to program staff
- Identify training and development needs for yourself and your team, and provide resources to meet them
- Facilitate discussion and resolution of issues within the staff team and/or with participants
- Attend and actively participate in regular staff team meetings
Administration
- Ensure reports are prepared and submitted on time
- Maintain participant registration in the KidTrax system
- Prepare and maintain administrative records, including daily attendance, incident reports, and participant information
- Maintain program supplies and inventory
- Verify site staff timesheets as required
- Ensure requisitions, receipts, and other paperwork are completed and submitted per ANS procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean working setting
Community Outreach
- Seek out new community partnerships and maintain existing ones related to the programs
- Carry out the program's outreach plan
- Share information and resources with the staff team, community partners, and other organizations
- Promote ANS and its services
What You'll Bring
- Post-secondary education in social work, child and youth work, education, or a related field — or equivalent experience in a culturally diverse, community-based setting
- Proven skills in program design, development, and evaluation
- Understanding of the issues facing culturally diverse children
- Demonstrated group facilitation skills
- Knowledge of services and community organizations for children
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience supervising staff
- Ability to lead confidently within a team setting
- Willingness to work evenings
- Computer literacy
- Multilingual skills are an asset
- Knowledge of the Rexdale community and its agencies is an asset
