Role Overview

Part-time employee: $35 per hour, increasing to $40 per hour after successful completion of the three-month probation period.

Location: Nelson BC and surrounding communities.

Hours: Beginning with lighter part time hours and gradually building toward approximately 25 hours per week—around 20 hours of on-site cleaning and 5

hours of administrative and operational work.

Travel reimbursement: $0.75 per kilometre for travel outside Nelson and a $15

flat travel payment for work within Nelson

Reports to: Rikki, General Manager and Operations Lead.

Start date: As soon as the right person is available.

Zen Cleaning is looking for an experienced, dependable cleaner who is ready to grow into a hands-on supervisory role. You will work alongside our cleaning team while helping jobs run smoothly, supporting team members and maintaining the high standard of care our clients know us for.

Previous management experience would be a massive bonus. We will provide practical training, clear systems and ongoing support as you develop your leadership skills. What matters most is that you produce excellent work,



notice the details others miss and can guide people with warmth and clarity.

This role could be perfect for someone who...

- Has professional residential, commercial, hospitality or vacation-rental cleaning experience.
- Is returning to paid work after parenting, caregiving, study or another career break.
- Wants to begin with lighter part-time hours and gradually take on more responsibility.
- Naturally notices what needs attention and takes ownership of following through.
- Can balance kindness, humour and encouragement with clear expectations.
- Is organised and able to keep work moving without cutting corners.
- Responds well to constructive feedback.
- Is comfortable using a smartphone and learning tools such as Trello and QuickBooks Workforce.
- Has an awareness of how physical spaces and interpersonal dynamics affect clients and team members.
- Is interested in developing their leadership and operational skills.
- Experience using computers and tools such as Google Workspace, Canva, email marketing software or social media platforms would be an additional advantage.

Responsibilities CLEANING JOBS & ON-SITE CLIENT RELATIONS:

- Work alongside the team across residential, commercial and vacation-rental properties.
- Act as the on-site point of contact for clients during cleaning jobs, communicating professionally and escalating changes in scope or expectations to management.
- Keep jobs moving efficiently without compromising quality.
- Create a calm,



respectful and encouraging work environment.
- Lead by example through reliability, professionalism and attention to detail.
- Train and help team members learn Zen’s cleaning methods, systems and expectations.
- Give clear, constructive direction when work needs to be corrected.
- Report recurring attendance, performance or conduct concerns to management.

ADMINISTRATION AND OPERATIONS:
- Manage Zen’s Trello job-card dashboard, keeping job cards, checklists and client information accurate and ensuring upcoming jobs are properly prepared.
- Attending leadership meetings, supervisor check-ins and training sessions as required.
- Sharing feedback that could improve training and job processes.
- Gradually learn Zen’s quoting process, attend on-site assessments and take increasing responsibility for preparing quotes.
- Gradually taking responsibility for supporting the weekly schedule and conducting regular team check-ins, with guidance from the General Manager.
