Sweet Thea Coffee is hiring a full-time Barista Shift Lead for our location inside the BC Ferries passenger holding area at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal.

Pay and schedule

- $22.00 per hour plus tips (historically $6-8 hr)
- Approximately 37.5 hours per week
- Thursday–Monday, 12:30 p.m.–8:00 p.m.
- Permanent, full-time position
- Employee benefits after six months of full-time employment
- Shared reserved staff parking, subject to availability

About the position Customer traffic at this location follows ferry sailings. The shop experiences busy rushes followed by quieter periods. The Shift Lead must provide efficient service during rushes and use slower periods productively for cleaning, restocking, inventory and preparation.

Responsibilities

- Prepare espresso drinks and other café products
- Provide friendly and effective customer service
- Operate the point-of-sale system and handle cash
- Coordinate the work of the closing team
- Complete cleaning and closing checklists
- Restock and prepare the shop for the following day
- Monitor inventory and report shortages
- Complete closing cash and point-of-sale procedures
- Follow food-safety, security and terminal-access procedures




- Communicate operational concerns and leave a clear shift handover

Minimum qualifications
- At least one year of commercial espresso-bar experience
- At least six months of experience as a shift supervisor, keyholder or designated closer
- Experience with cash reconciliation and closing procedures
- Available to work the fixed Thursday–Monday schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Reliable transportation plan for reaching the Tsawwassen ferry terminal
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Able to provide employment references

FoodSafe Level 1 is an asset but is not required. Sweet Thea will pay for the successful candidate to obtain certification if needed. We are looking for someone dependable and self-directed who can lead a shift, maintain customer attention and complete required work without constant supervision.
