Hospice Calgary is a non-profit organization serving the Calgary community for over 30 years.
Through our three centres of care, we support children, teens, and adults through the grieving process as they face advanced illness or the death of someone in their life. We promise to have the difficult conversations about death, dying, and grief while honouring each unique experience of grief.
Community Engagement Coordinator, Children’s Grief Centre
1.0 FTE, Permanent The Children’s Grief Centre is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team and facilitate creating meaningful, inclusive, and enjoyable experiences for children, youth, and families impacted by grief and loss.
The ideal candidate WILL:
- Work in alignment with our family- and person- centered approach
- Possess an understanding of grief and loss
- Bring a creative and organized approach to developing activities for families and teens within a non-profit context
- Have experience and passion for peer-to-peer and mentorship with ability to train volunteers
Required Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in social work, child and youth care or related field required
- Previous experience with creative client-centered program development
- Experience working with, and coordinating activities for, children and teens required
- Passion for peer-to-peer programming
- Ability to work in the community and in office required
- Tuesday and Thursday evenings required. Occasional weekend day may be required to deliver barrier-free programming for families.
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Enthusiasm towards working among an inter-professional team and with volunteers.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 15 pounds
- Alberta Driver's License and own vehicle, with 2 million liability insurance coverage, for community work
- Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check required
