Construction Manager 2 - NCT Lines

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Prince George

Employment type: Permanent Region: Northern Interior

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid

Annual salary: $ 131,100.00 - 165,800.00

What you'll do

- Ability to deliver on the construction component of large, complex high-risk projects that span multiple years, including

adherence/ development of standards; development and maintenance of supplier relationships, First Nations relationships and stakeholder relations.
- Provide Senior Construction and Contract Management direction and supervision.
- Directs and supervises a mixed unit of BC Hydro Construction Managers, Construction officers, support staff and/or

external consultants in the fields of construction management, contract management and commissioning
- Ensures that all phases of construction work and associated activities related to assigned projects is planned and carried

out efficiently and effectively in terms of safety, quality, schedule, cost and scope
- Provides leadership and ensures employee safety
- Demonstrates strong leadership and relationship management skills, influencing stakeholders, building trust, and fostering

collaboration across diverse teams and external partners to achieve project objectives.
- Ensures adequate resources are in place to meet multi-year project and program plans




- Provides technical guidance and ensures adequate technical reviews are completed as required
- Assists in the development of business unit objectives, quality assurance standards, customer needs, and performance

measurements and assists in managing the construction management division operational performance to meet these objectives and client servicing needs
- Conducts "Constructability Reviews" of projects throughout various phases in the project life-cycle and reviews contract

tender documents
- Provides input to the public consultation process as it pertains to construction site activities and issues
- As "Hydro's Representative", manages construction and equipment installation contracts, ensuring the successful

completion of the contract work in an orderly and timely manner
- Negotiates work changes and equitable adjustment requests or makes ruling on disputes between BC Hydro and the

contractor
- Investigates and resolves claims on BC Hydro's behalf
- Conducts regular construction site visits to provide support to employees/external resources and to ensure all applicable

protocols, procedures, policies, standards, regulations, etc. are being met. What you bring

- A degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or Commercial Management. An

equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 15 years direct and progressively more complex experience including considerable experience with electric

utility 500 KV transmission line projects performing construction/contract management. Strong leadership skills demonstrated by a track record of building, leading and managing diverse teams
- Excellent working knowledge of project costing, scheduling, and scope/quality/quantity management, contract

management processes, safety policies and safe work procedures
- Considerable technical knowledge in civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical work.




- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to relate and discuss issues with a range of professionals from trades people to senior management.
- Ability and passion to provide solid work leadership and technical direction to engineers or other technical support staff.
- Ability to manage a project or series of projects of considerable scope and complexity on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated knowledge in construction methods and procedures in a utility environment.
- Demonstrated organization, project planning and people management skills.
- Extensive experience in the construction of dams and spillways will be considered an asset for this position.
- Must be capable of driving in all weather conditions

What else you should know

This role will be Full Time Regular only if the successful applicant either remains headquartered out of Prince George or

Edmonds or is willing to relocate to Prince George or Edmonds. Applicants travelling into site will be offered a Full Time

Temporary role.
