The Project Scheduler / Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules to support the successful planning, execution, and control of turnaround and major outage activities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all work is properly defined, sequenced, resourced, and prepared so that activities can be executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Management, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Contractors to coordinate planning activities, identify risks and constraints, and provide accurate schedule reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Support project planning activities, including scope definition, work sequencing, resource planning, and execution readiness.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of project schedules and planning data.
- Create and maintain work orders, requisitions,
and material reservations within SAP.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to identify and reserve required materials and support the creation of new material numbers within MMRS when necessary.
- Work closely with Project Management, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Construction, Cost Control, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project priorities and execution plans.
- Identify critical path activities, key milestones, and near-term work priorities.
- Prepare look-ahead schedules, progress reports, schedule updates, and management summaries.
- Collect and incorporate progress updates from engineering, procurement, maintenance, and construction teams.
- Maintain planning documentation, including assumptions, constraints, work packs, progress records, and schedule change history.
- Support schedule review meetings by preparing reports, data analysis, charts, and presentations.
- Perform schedule impact assessments and develop "what-if" scenarios to support project decision-making.
- Ensure schedules align with project scope, project controls processes, and company standards.
- Promote planning practices that prioritize safety, quality, productivity, and efficient execution.
- Coordinate with vendors, Procurement, and Project Management to support rate reviews, requisition creation, and purchase order readiness.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Demonstrated experience using Primavera P6 scheduling software.
- Strong SAP experience,
including:
- - Work order creation and management
- Requisition creation
- Material searches and reservations
- Procurement coordination
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, and project controls principles.
- Ability to interpret engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance information and translate it into executable schedules.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Project Details Cenovus / Meridian Cogen Turnaround & Major Outage Program
Cenovus and Meridian Cogen will be executing major outage and turnaround activities in 2027 and 2028. We are currently building the project team to support planning, execution, and closeout activities.
