Schedule: As Needed- Casual. Various shifts from: 5:30am - 2:00pm, 10:00am - 6:30pm, and 12:00pm - 8:00pm.

Pay:

Starting wage is $21.50 - $26.75 (range based on experience) an hour.

Position Summary:

The Cook will be responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals in accordance with residents, food safety standards, and the residence’s menus. Coordinates workflow in assigned area and provides work direction to Second cooks and other designated staff including related training and orientation.

Participate in kitchen cleaning schedules and equipment maintenance routines while ensuring the kitchen remains clean, organized, and compliant with all sanitation and health regulations. This position plays a key role in enhancing the dining experience and overall well-being of our residents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification preferred.
- Minimum 1–2 years of cooking experience; senior living experience a plus.
- Food Safe Certification – Must complete within 90 days of hire if not already completed
- Quality Assurance – Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Food Safety & Sanitation – Knowledge of HACCP, local food safety regulations, and sanitation best practices.
- Task organization, time management, and understanding of confidentiality
- Friendly, professional demeanor and ability to adapt
- Passion for food and people, innovative mindset.

At Berwick we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. A current TB test and criminal record check are also required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults.
