The Courier

Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and reliable transportation of laboratory specimens, supplies, equipment, documents, and other materials between Alpha Laboratories locations, Patient Service Centres, healthcare facilities, suppliers, and other designated locations.

Driver is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, reliability, confidentiality, and customer service while supporting the day-to-day operational needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

- Safely transport and deliver laboratory specimens, supplies, equipment, documents, and other materials between designated locations.
- Complete scheduled pickups and deliveries accurately and within established timelines.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules while adapting to changes in delivery requirements or operational priorities.
- Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly in a variety of driving conditions, including urban and rural areas and during daytime and evening hours.
- Ensure specimens and other materials are properly secured and handled during transportation to prevent damage, loss, contamination, or compromise.
- Maintain the integrity and appropriate handling of laboratory specimens in accordance with established procedures.
- Load, unload, lift, carry, and organize supplies, boxes, specimens, equipment, and other materials as required.
- Conduct routine vehicle checks and promptly report any vehicle maintenance, safety, or operational concerns.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and general condition of the assigned vehicle.
- Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, mileage, vehicle checks, and other required documentation.
- Ensure all deliveries and pickups are properly documented and obtain signatures or other confirmation where required.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with laboratory staff, healthcare providers, suppliers,



patients, and other customers.
- Represent Alpha Laboratories with professionalism, integrity, and a solid customer-service focus at every point of contact.
- Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient information, laboratory specimens, company documents, and other confidential materials.
- Report delays, missed pickups, delivery issues, damaged materials, vehicle incidents, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
- Follow all applicable health and safety, privacy, infection prevention, transportation, and company policies and procedures.
- Complete required training and remain current with applicable policies, procedures, and operational requirements.
- Use company technology as required to access schedules, complete training, communicate with the team, and maintain time and delivery records.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist with additional pickups, deliveries, or other courier-related duties based on operational requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A full, valid driver's licence appropriate for the assigned vehicle.
- Clean and acceptable driver's abstract/record.
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience with a full valid licence preferred.
- Previous courier, delivery, healthcare, laboratory, or customer service experience is an asset.
- Ability to lift, carry, load, and maneuver packages, supplies, and other materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and schedules.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with a high level of reliability, accountability, and professionalism.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour

Experience:
- Medical laboratory inventory management: 2 years (preferred)
