Colonel By is seeking an experienced and passionate Culinary Manager to lead our dining and culinary operations.

The successful candidate will oversee daily kitchen operations, menu planning, food ordering, inventory, staffing, food safety and resident satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity for a culinary qualified who enjoys working with seniors and takes pride in providing nutritious, high-quality meals and an exceptional dining experience.

Responsibilities

- Lead day-to-day culinary and kitchen operations
- Plan seasonal menus based on resident preferences and nutritional needs
- Manage food purchasing, inventory, food costs and departmental budgets
- Ensure compliance with Public Health, food safety and applicable retirement-home requirements
- Schedule, supervise, train and support culinary team members
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation and food safety
- Accommodate allergies, therapeutic diets and texture-modified meals
- Monitor food quality, presentation, portions and resident satisfaction
- Gather resident feedback and participate in Resident Council discussions as required
- Collaborate with nursing, recreation and residence leadership
- Support special events, themed meals and community functions
- Complete scheduling, documentation and departmental reporting

Qualifications

- Culinary Management,



Chef training, Nutrition Management or equivalent education/experience
- Valid Food Handler Certification
- Minimum 2 years of kitchen supervisory or management experience
- Retirement living, long-term care, healthcare, hospitality or institutional food-service experience preferred
- Strong leadership, organization and communication skills
- Experience with food purchasing, inventory and budget management
- Knowledge of senior nutrition and therapeutic diets is an asset
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check required within 6 months of hire
- Current TB test required within 6 months of hire
