Data Analyst - ADF Databricks

Location: Toronto, ON

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid — Thursday and 4th Friday of the month on-site (may change due to business requirements)

Contract Details

- Position Type: Contract
- Contract Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension; conversion to FTE possible but no opening currently)
- Pay Rate: C$90.00–C$95.00 / Hour (CAD)
- Shift / Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday
- Interview Process: 1 interview via Microsoft Teams

Job Summary This contractor role sits within the Global Asset Management Technology line of business.

Global Asset

Management institutional execution is the process by which asset managers carry out large-scale investment transactions on behalf of institutional clients. This involves optimizing trade strategies, ensuring best pricing, minimizing market impact, and adhering to regulatory requirements to achieve efficient and secure execution of investment decisions. The business is currently on a transformation journey and is open to exploring the advanced functionality of Databricks. The successful candidate will work on a daily basis with the Data Engineer Lead and client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

- 7 years of experience with ADF, Databricks, and Azure Functions (C#)
- In-depth development experience with Python/notebook on Databricks/Spark/Pandas
- Expert working knowledge of Unity Catalog and data governance setup/configuration
- Experience in loading datasets from various sources using ADF to Databricks with Medallion architecture




- Experience in converting Databricks workspace from Hive Metastore to Unity Catalog and setting up associated permissions
- Creating delta table schema/tables with proper design/properties and security permissions
- DevOps and deployment pipeline using Azure DevOps/GitHub Enterprise for both ADF and Databricks
- In-depth experience with Azure Entra ID for SSO/RBAC setup
- In-depth experience working with and deploying to Azure PaaS resources such as Azure SQL PaaS, ADF/SHIR, ADLS, Databricks, and Synapse dedicated SQL databases
- Familiar with working in a locked-down Windows setting for a highly regulated industry
- Ability to work independently and lead a small team
- Proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to lead a small team and technical problem-solving sessions

Required Skills

- Proficiency in ADF (Azure Data Factory) — must have
- Proficiency in Databricks — must have
- Excellent communication skills
- Meticulous and detail-oriented
- Autonomous and able to work independently
- Works well in a team environment

Preferred Skills

- Nice to have experience with Delta Live Tables
- Financial Services Industry experience is an asset
- Previous experience at a financial institution (e.g., previous CIBC experience or experience at another financial institution)
