Job Summary: Responsible for the purchase of production materials, operating supplies, manufacturing equipment and services, including duties, legal obligations, and import/export requirements. Also responsible for managing and optimizing MRO and production inventory controls, leading physical inventories or cycle counts, and improving cycle count accuracy and WIP reduction to support internal and external customers.
Required Education and Experience:
- Post-Secondary Diploma preferred in the following:
- Supply Chain Management
- Business Administration/ Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of direct technical and commercial purchasing experience, specializing in automotive manufacturing (purchasing planning and operations, including sourcing, contract management, inventory management and supply chain operations)
- Experience in ERP systems; familiarity with CMS is an asset
- CPP, CPIM, APIC or SCMA SCMP designation is preferred
- Training in Continuous Improvement and lean management is preferred
- Experience in negotiation strategies, analysis and tactics
- Strong negotiation skills aligned with company strategies
- Strong verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Comfortable working in both office and plant environments
- Experience in communication systems, root cause analysis, corrective actions and continuous improvement
- Experience in sourcing practices, spend analysis, supplier management and performance tracking
- Knowledge of inventory control, planning of raw material, WIP and finished goods for MRO and production
- Experience with physical inventory, cycle counting and inventory accuracy improvement
- Knowledge of Milk Run and HFDS
- Strong coordination, organization and time management skills with Excellent attendance
- Strong computer skills in ERP systems, Excel, lean and visual management
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize shortage risks, including supplier backup, safety stock, supplier capacity and cycle count programs
- Monitor and optimize inventory levels and track key supply chain KPIs
- Manage spending and support cost reduction, price stability and continuous improvement
- Use market and commodity data, inflation mitigation and escalation/de-escalation agreements to support pricing and update raw material costs
- Develop supplier strategies, segment suppliers, manage agreements and support supplier performance improvement
- Work with internal teams (Sales, Operations, Finance, Project and engineering, Customer Service) to meet demand on time and at cost
- Support Corporate initiatives as required
- Prepare purchase orders, requisitions and RFQs; review bids and negotiate contracts
- Provide costing support for new business quotes
- Manage obsolescence, engineering changes, steel pipeline, prototypes and trials
- Participate in APQP and new program activities
- Improve inventory accuracy for raw material,
WIP and finished goods
- Reduce inventory discrepancies, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Report daily on inventory discrepancies, scrap and cycle counts
- Support production and material planning to avoid overproduction or shortages
- Perform inventory risk assessment (lead time, min/max, days on hand)
- Lead physical inventories and cycle counts
- Provide cycle count adjustments with proper documentation and approvals
- Ensure FIFO compliance and support CUM discrepancy reconciliation with planners
- Provide direction to support accurate production reporting
- Support continuous improvement, productivity, quality and cost reduction activities
- Follow all company policies, including SCO, Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental and HR policies
Working Environment:
- Both office setting and production workplace
- 80% office, 20% plant floor (PPE required)
- Flexible hours as required
Physical Demands:
- Require communication with employees, peers, and management
- Lifting and pushing as needed
- Ability to work on computer for long periods of time

- Must work in accordance with health and safety regulations, company rules, plant rules, policies, and procedures
- Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company.
- All employees are prohibited from walking under a suspended hoist, cranes, or forklifts.
